The Tablethe table is what it's about. At praxis, once a week, we gather for coffee and conversation around tables, sharing ancient and new stories and talking about issues that affect our lives, and our relationship with God and with one another. Then we gather around another table, and we remember our connection with God in the simple gifts of bread and drink through the story of Jesus sharing bread with his friends. We started praxis spring of 1998 because we didn't see many young adults in the church and wondered what would happen if we created a faith community that spoke our language, arose out of our experience of the Holy, and invited a new generation to the table. praxis for us means living and worshiping intentionally, in Christian community. It comes from the word "practice," and refers to the practice of your life. So, praxis focuses on organically created, enlivening worship, hospitality which welcomes all to the table, and living with justice as we strive to live after the example of Jesus. Openness to all is important to us; we remember the stories of Jesus inviting all sorts of folks to parties and dinners, and we believe God's table is open to everyone. the table is set.
