Our Look

Praxis is founded on the beliefs that:
God's table is big enough for everyone,
God is big enough to handle our questions,
and that God's love is abundant.

The story of Jesus and his radical acceptance of people and his message of justice and God's love are central to us.

Sunday praxis meets in a coffeehouse (you can get free, good coffee during church at ALL praxis gatherings).

Children are welcome and they don't have to be very quiet (no one does).

A playful spirit is often present (like the day we talked about our teen idols).

We have had church under the 3rd Avenue bridge (the geese liked it).

The music includes simple chants and rounds and melodies, with original music by the First Lounge of God Orchestra (guitar, bass, percussion).

Sometimes everybody gets a drum and we just jam for awhile.

Everyone sits around tables for small group discussion every week.

Respect for everyone and an open mind are expected at praxis so everyone can feel safe.

Discussion of the Bible and other texts form the main part of our time together.

Questions about faith issues and everyday stuff are often our starting point for discussion.

There is a creative activity some weeks (planting pots of grass together, decopauging candle holders, playing with clay).

There are crayons and percussion toys for everyone to play with.

Most folks are in their 20s and 30s, but all are welcome.

We have share the bread and cup every week, or have a Love Feast ceremony.

You get to light lots of candles at praxis.

A basket holds our written prayers, which are burned a few times a year

Sometimes we do silent meditation for awhile together..
