This week at praxis...The Movie Trailer

Then Peter began to speak to them: "I truly understand that God shows no
partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is
acceptable to him. You know the message he sent to the people of Israel,
preaching peace by Jesus Christ--he is Lord of all. That message spread
throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John announced:
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how he
went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God
was with him. We are witnesses to all that he did both in Judea and in
Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree; but God raised him on
the third day and allowed him to appear, not to all the people but to us who
were chosen by God as witnesses, and who ate and drank with him after he rose
from the dead. He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is
the one ordained by God as judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets
testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins
through his name."
----Acts 10:34-43

At the start was the gathering up,
And the gleaning was toward God,
and God was the gathering up.
This gleaning at the start was toward God.
Through this, everything was born,
And apart from this, nothing was born at all.
In this gathering up was life,
And the life was the light that belongs to humanity,
And the light appearing in darkness,
And the darkness did not put it out.
And the gathering up
turned into human flesh
And encamped among us.
we saw the splendor of it,
Splendor like someone pure-born,
Full of blessing and truth.
----T Driver, Patterns of Grace

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the
Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died,
and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he
ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come
again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of
saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life
everlasting. Amen.
----The Apostle’s Creed

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten
of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten,
not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us
and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit
and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under
Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the
right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and
the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from
the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and
glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in the one holy
catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of
sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to
come. Amen.
----The Nicene Creed
